Atha Ruja

DOC CANNONAU DI SARDEGNA

Red, Dry, 100% Cannonau

Selection obtained by processing in purity Cannonau grapes of Sardinia.

After fermentation on the skins for a period of 15/20 days, it matures in French oak tonneaux for at least 12 months, followed by a further 6 months of aging in bottles lying down.

Luminous ruby red color animated by evident violet notes, a prelude to the fresh scents of Mediterranean maquis, rosemary with notes of red fruit and berries, marasca cherry and myrtle accompanied by a touch of spicy notes conferred by the elevation in French oak barrels.

On the palate the warm impact is followed by a notable freshness with distinctive savory notes and an elegant texture of tannins, which fit well together in the wine's soft and velvety structure. Good intensity and persistence.

Matching
“Atha Ruja” goes well with semi-hard cheeses of medium intensity, tasty cold cuts and medium-structured red meat dishes, roasts and game.

The Winery

The Atha Ruja Poderi winery is located 20 minutes from the Oddoene valley, in Dorgali, an oasis of serenity and centuries-old vineyards on the slopes of the Supramonte.

Here, blessed with enchanting sunsets and unspoiled nature, since the early 90s we have been growing our vines in an eco-sustainable way. Years of dedication, passion and experience, combined with our commitment to organic wine making, have resulted in a great range of wines.

Originally a farm, the peculiar U-shaped winery, after some renovations, is today arranged on two levels overlooking a large inner courtyard, the heart and soul of the surrounding building. The upper level is devoted to the processing of grapes, bottling operations and the storage of bottles. The basement houses the processing area and barrel cellar where the batches of wines, vinified alone, ripen in the quiet coolness.
