The Nik Weis – Saarfeilser Riesling Auslese (Black Label) is a luxurious, noble-sweet Riesling sourced from the steep, slate-rich slopes of the Saarfeilser vineyard, a classified VDP.
Grosse Lage site in the Saar region. Made from hand-selected, late-harvested grapes, often partially affected by noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), the wine is vinified with meticulous care: the grapes are gently pressed, and fermentation is carried out spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel or traditional Mosel Fuder barrels, followed by aging on fine lees to enhance depth and complexity.
In the glass, it reveals a golden hue with aromas of ripe apricot, peach, honey, candied citrus peel, and hints of botrytis spice and wildflowers. On the palate, it is rich and lusciously sweet, yet perfectly balanced by the Saar’s vibrant acidity, delivering a long, elegant, and mouth-watering finish.
This Auslese is a superb example of the harmony between sweetness, minerality, and freshness that defines great Saar Rieslings.
