Gran Sasso Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC
In a Nutshell
Soft and easy going pizza red.
This wine is ruby red with garnet highlights and is packed with juicy fruit characters of red berries and plum with hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied with subtle tannins. This wine is well-balanced with good structure and a long finish.
The grapes were hand picked. On arrival at the winery, only 10% of grapes were put in fermentation tanks with their stems; the remaining fruit was destemmed. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel and concrete tanks at a temperature of 28°C and lasted for 15 days. Continuous racking and punch-downs were performed to optimise extraction of flavours from the skins. Malolactic fermentation took place in 80% stainless-steel tanks and 20% oak barrels, which softened the acidity and added complexity to the final wine.
