Description:
Clos Floridène is today a 40 ha vineyard in the Graves appellation; Mainly located on the limestone plateau of Pujols sur Ciron, near Barsac, it also has a few plots on the stony terraces of Illats. Its name evokes the first names of its founders: Denis and Florence Dubourdieu. Exclusively maintained by traditional ploughing, the soil of this vineyard receives no herbicides. Organic manures are based on vegetable compost. Particular care is taken with pruning and disbudding, exclusively carried out by the winegrowers, with a view to optimizing the quality of the harvest and the longevity of the vine. Trellising, stripping and thinning are done by hand with meticulous care.
Tasting Notes
The 2020 Clos Floridene Blanc leaps from the glass with notes of Granny Smith apples, grapefruit and wild sage, plus wafts of wet pebbles and oyster shell. The medium-bodied palate delivers a good intensity of citrusy flavors with a crisp backbone and a steely finish. [88-90 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown– May 2021, robertparker.com]
