Food Pairing: The Lafon-Rochet is a superb match for grilled or roasted red meats such as ribeye or prime rib, roast lamb (shoulder or rack), and game birds (pheasant, duck breast). It also pairs beautifully with venison or wild boar stews, hearty meat dishes with rich sauces, and mature hard cheeses like Comté vieux or aged Parmesan. For dessert, richer options like ** chocolate fondant or black forest cake** can also work with its deep fruit character.
Description: Château Lafon‑Rochet is a highly regarded Fourth Growth Bordeaux from the Saint-Estèphe appellation, celebrated for its blend of structure, finesse and ageing potential. The 2016 vintage is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon , with Merlot , Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, giving a classic Left Bank profile of dark fruit, firm tannins and vibrant acidity. In the glass it shows a deep, brilliant ruby color with purple highlights and a rich, expressive bouquet of ripe black fruit such as blackberry and cassis, fresh cherry, violets, sweet spice, graphite and elegant oak notes (vanilla, light toast). On the palate there’s a silky, precise attack with firm yet ripe tannins, a full and juicy mid-palate, and a remarkable balance between power and freshness. The finish is long and satisfying, revisiting black fruits and mellow oak with a refined, structured texture — a fine example of Saint-Estèphe’s trademark depth and persistence.
