Food Pairing: Château Duhart-Milon works beautifully with rich, savoury fare. Classic pairings include herb-crusted rack of lamb, roasted or grilled beef (such as prime rib or ribeye), duck breast or duck confit, and game meats like venison. It also complements mushroom dishes, truffle-accented sauces, and mature hard cheeses such as Gouda or Saint-Nectaire. Serve this wine at 16–18 °C, and if enjoying it now, decant for several hours to allow the flavours and aromas to open fully.
Description: Château Duhart‑Milon is a classic Pauillac red Bordeaux and a Fourth Growth (4ème Cru Classé) from one of the Médoc’s respected estates, owned by the Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). The vintage blends predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, and is known for combining Bordeaux structure with finesse and freshness. In the glass the 2012 shows a dark ruby colour with aromas of blackberry, cassis, subtle spice, cedar and a touch of roasted cocoa or vanilla from oak maturation. On the palate it is medium-to-full-bodied with ripe dark fruit and finely-chiseled tannins, balanced acidity and a lingering spicy finish that reflects both power and elegance typical of Pauillac. This vintage retains freshness and complexity, especially with some aeration, and has been praised for its harmonious profile even as it continues to evolve in bottle.
